SC sentences Vijay Mallya four months in jail
The Supreme Court has sentenced fugitive liquor baron Vijay Mallya to four months in jail and imposed a fine of rupees two thousand on him for a 2017 contempt of court case.
A bench of Justices U.U Lalit, S. Ravindra Bhat, and P.S Narasimha today said that the transaction of 40 million dollars by Vijay Mallya to his children is void and inoperable.
Mallaya was convicted of contempt in 2017 over transferring 40 dollars million to his children in violation of court orders.
A plea by a consortium of banks led by the State Bank of India sought contempt action. Vijay Mallya is accused in a bank loan default case of over rupees 9,000 crore involving his now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines.
Rajnath Singh launches 75 newly developed AI products
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said that multiple DRDO Industry-Academia Centres of Excellence have been installed across the country, having a primary focus on Artificial Intelligence.
He inaugurated the first-ever symposium and exhibition on Artificial Intelligence in Defence organised by Department of Defence Production in New Delhi today. On the occasion Mr Singh said, many efforts are being taken by the Defence sector to promote Artificial Intelligence apps.
Seventy-five newly-developed AI products and technologies, having applications in defence were launched, as part of the celebrations marking 75 years of Independence Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and to promote ‘Aatmanirbharta’ initiative in Defence.
The products are in the domains of automation, unmanned, robotics systems, cyber security, human behaviour analysis, intelligent monitoring system, logistics and supply chain management, speech and voice analysis and Command, Control, Communication, Computer and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems and Operational Data Analytics.
AIR correspondent reports, that besides the 75 products being launched, another 100 are in various stages of development.
