Night time silence was shattered at Shekerkote in West Tripura after miscreants threw four crude bombs in quick succession on Tuesday night. Even as no one was injured, the incident sparked panic in the area.
The bomb attacks were launched after a meeting between a local club and some miscreants who were engaged in extortion and negotiation for big budget contract works in the area failed.
Irked at obstinate stand of the local club members, the miscreants left the meeting in a huff. However, miscreants return soon and started lobbing crude bombs – total four bombs were thrown.
Meantime, ex-Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, while returning Agartala after attending Ganesh Puja inauguration programmes, reached the spot and enquired about the incident. He directed the Police to take action.
Police force started a man-haunt and nabbed two persons – Subhankar Sutradhar and Prasenjit Ghosh, however, the kingpin remained elusive, so far.
