ProMASS News Bureau: Aug 26, 2016: There was a time when development was believed to depend on the quantity of capital and labour. Today we know that it depends as much on the quality of institutions and ideas. Early last year, a new institution was created, namely, the National Institution for Transforming India or NITI. This institution was created as an evidence based think tank to guide India’s transformation, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi today in inaugural NITI Aayog’s maiden annual lecture series on Transforming India . Delivering lecture on this, Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore said India must integrate more with the world by embracing technology to leap frog in the race of development. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that development of a country depends on quality of institution and ideas and we have to change laws, speed up processes and adopt technology.
Delivering the inaugural NITI Aayog’s maiden annual lecture series on Transforming India, PM Narendra Modi said that 30 years ago, a country might have been able to look inward and find its solutions, but today, countries are inter dependent inter connected and no country can afford any longer to develop in isolation. PM said that younger generation in India is thinking and aspiring so differently, that government can no longer afford to remain rooted in the past. He added that if India is to meet the challenge of change, mere incremental progress is not enough rather a metamorphosis is needed. Highlighting that we cannot march through the twenty first century with the administrative systems of the nineteenth century, the Prime Minister said that what we need is a collective opening of our minds, to let in new, global perspectives.
Putting forth the idea of rapid transformation and not gradual evolution, PM Modi asserted that ideas by various stakeholders are helping in making policy. He also said that idea behind today’s conference is to convert ideas from various stakeholders into actions.
