The ruling BJP tried to disrupt CPIM’s mass rally at Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala on Friday, alleged CPIM State Secretary of Tripura Jitendra Chowdhury and added, even after the rally, the ruling party continued to commit attacks and intimidation across the state – these make it clear how desperate they are to hide their faces.

Jitendra Chowdhury was addressing a press conference at the CPIM state office on Saturday evening and highlighted several incidents of ploy hatched allegedly by the BJP supporters to stop vehicles from carrying CPIM supporters to the rally venue.

He further alleged, number of compartments in demo trains in South District was reduced for the last couple of days. He smelt a rot in this.

Chowdhury also said that BJP supporters continued to carry out the attacks and intimidation even while CPIM supporters were returning after attending the rally in Agartala.

The CPIM leader alleged one bus in which CPIM supporters were travelling back to their native villages was attacked by BJP activists and four CPIM supporters were wounded.

He also cited several other incidences of attacks and intimidation on the CPIM supporters.

Chowdhury claimed, BJP supporters tried their best to refrain people from attending the mass rally, but common people and CPIM supporters foiled the attempts – the rally witnessed massive gathering, he commented.

Training guns at the BJP and RSS, the CPIM leaders alleged, both BJP and RSS are actively trying to alter the culture of the country.

He, however, exuded confidence that people would give a befitting replay dislodge the ‘fascist’ regime soon.
