Utmost importance has been given to the modernization of fire services. The state now has an advanced fire service system, said Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha after inaugurating Tripura Fire Service Training School and a basic training programme for Civil Defence Volunteers on rescuing lives at Badarghat, Agartala today. It is to be noted that the new training school has been built at the cost of Rs 3 crore 18 lakh over 2.19 Acre land.
The Chief Minister said, the employees of Fire Service & Emergency Services department play a huge role in safeguarding people’s lives and property. Their presence gives us hope even during an unfortunate situation. The Chief Minister also urged to include training on providing primary treatment besides providing training on rescuing in unfortunate situations.
Fire & Emergency Services Minister Ram Prasad Paul in the programme said, Fire Act has been formed in the state after the present state government came into power which was never done in the past. MLA Mimi Majumdar and Secretary of Fire & Emergency Services department Apurba Roy also spoke on the occasion. Welcome speech was delivered by Special Secretary of the department Anindya Kumar Bhattacharjee. Joint Director Debjani Deb was also present there.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated a booklet on the achievements of the department after the present government took over. A documentary was also shown by & Emergency Services department in the programme. After the inauguration, a mock drill was also exercised on disaster management.
