Eminent singer Sonu Nigam will perform in Agartala. Moreover, there will be a state’s first ever drone show. All these will be held at the Swami Vivekananda Maidan on December next with the initiatives of the Youth Affairs and Sports Department of Tripura Government, said the Minister of the department Sushanta Chowdhury while addressing a press conference in Agartala on Monday (Dec 19).

 

The mega musical evening and drone show will be held as part of the state-level programme of ‘Khelo Tripura, Sustho Tripura’ campaign. He said the campaign is being carried out across the state for the last one month through various programmes and curtains would be drawn on this month long campaign through multiple events.  

   

 

The ‘Khelo Tripura, Sustho Tripura’ campaign aims at encouraging the youth towards sports and cultural practices and to raise awareness against drugs. The campaign envisages bolstering the anti-drug initiative across the State and generating awareness among the youth on the ill-effects of the drug addiction.

 

Artists of Tripura will also take part in the cultural show in which Sonu Nigam will enthrall the audience. The eventful evening will also witness the first-ever drone show in the State. In the drone show, IIT students from various parts of the country will take part.

 

Besides, various sports items would be distributed among 1500 clubs, Chowdhury said.

 

As part of the ‘Khelo Tripura, Sustho Tripura’ campaign, a colourful rally would be held in the city starting from Umakanta Academy ground at 2.30 pm on December 23.

 

The Government of Tripura is implementing a zero-tolerance policy towards the drug abuse. Multi-faceted steps have been taken to curb the drug menace in the State. Sports and cultural activities, along with tight security vigil and raids against the drug dealers, are stressed to prevent the youth going astray and fall in the drug-trap.

 

To this end, ‘Khelo Tripura, Sustho Tripura’ is a crucial campaign to promote sports activities among the youth.
