Desperate to regain lost ground before 2023 Assembly Polls in Tripura, supporters and leaders of CPIM are leaving no stone unturned to conduct political rallies and public meetings on several issues including price hike, unemployment and law and order situation in Tripura.

.

Being denied an opportunity, allegedly by the ruling BJP supporters, CPIM activists held a rally followed by a public rally at Baikhora under the South Tripura District on Thursday (Dec 22) for the first time after BJP came into power in 2018, claimed the CPIM leaders.

As per schedule, CPIM supporters led by party’s State Secretary Jitendra Choudhury held a rally at Baikhora today with a number of demands including establishment of rule of law in the state, controlling price hikes, reinstating the axed 10323 teachers, increase of MNREGA wages and man-days, prevention of employee deprivation, provision of social security, taking an effective role against state-wide murder, violence and crime against women etc.

The rally progressed towards the public meeting place at Baikhora Bazar area – however, a group of people, allegedly BJP supporters, stopped the rally and prevented it marching forward. This sparked tension as supporters of both parties were adamant. However, with the intervention of the CPIM leaders and effective efforts by the Police, situation did not take a turn for a worse. It was decided that the CPIM leaders would hold the public meeting at the Baikhora Police Station premises instead of pre-scheduled Baikhora Bazar.

The rally was diverted and supporters assembled at the Police station premises where CPIM leaders including Jitendra Choudhury addressed the gathering.

Noticing that some of the CPIM supporters were not happy as the meeting place was changed coming under the pressure exerted by the ruling party supporters, Choudhury tried to pacify them and said the ultimate objective of holding the rally and public meeting at Baikhora could be achieved after 58 months of BJP rule. He congratulated party men for not being provoked.

Choudhury also hailed the party supporters for braving the intimidation and threat of the ruling party and join in an ‘impressive’ rally and public gathering. Choudhury urged the supporters to work harder to oust BJP from power and install Left Front back into power.
