Apart from a plan to set up six heliports in Tripura, the Tourism department of the State has taken initiative to start helicopter services, ‘Hawai Safar’ at Narikel Kunja located in Dumboor and at Unakoti for travelling convenience of national and international tourists.
Regarding fare for the Hawai Safar, Secretary of Tourism department Uttam Kumar Chakma informed the media in Agartala on December 30, travel fare per person has been fixed as Rs. 2,300 to travel to Narikel Kunja and Rs. 2,500 to travel to Unakoti. Each air travel must have 4 passengers.
The service might also be postponed due to emergency reasons. He also informed the media, Unakoti tourist spot has been enlisted to be declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO according to the proposal given by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India to bring Unakoti to the world arena. It is being hoped that Unakoti would be recognized as World Heritage Site.
Tourism Department Secretary informed the media about other facilities constructed at several tourist spots. He pointed out the construction of 49 modern Log Huts at different places filled with natural environment have been taken to attract national and international tourists.
Total 31 Log Huts have already been opened Sepahijala Forest, Tepania, Ambassa, Baramura Eco Park and Narikel Kunja.
Moreover, watch tower, ticket counter, parking, gallery shed, tourisn facilitation centre and road repairing have been completed to beautify the unique tourist spots of the state, Neer Mahal under Swadesh Darshan-1, Chakma said.
“The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has approved Rs 8 crore 88 lakh for starting light and sound services at Ujjayanta Palace. This will be implemented by Agartala Smart City Limited. It is being hoped that the light and sound services will be starting soon”, he said.
The Secretary also informed the media, wayside amenities have been constructed at Bishalgarh and Santirbazar nearby National Highway no. 8 for tourist convenience at the cost of Rs 61 lakh. Director of Tourism department Tapan Das was also present during the press meet.
