Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha found the Congress and CPIM alliance in State ‘weird’. He also asserted the alliance will be rejected by the people of the State.

Reacting on the alliance between the Congress and CPIM for upcoming Assembly Polls, Dr Saha said he is both scared and astonished as to how the Congress leaders could join hands with the CPIM who were responsible for numerous murders of Congress supporters in the State during the Left Front regime.

Dubbing the alliance as ‘weird’, the Chief Minister said Congress and CPIM leaders agreed for the alliance to serve their own interests. People of Tripura will never accept such an alliance.

He justified his claim saying that alliance becomes successful with the support of ground level activists of respective allies. However, in this case, the alliance has been formed by the leaders while most of the supporters of the two parties disapproving the alliance.

Dr Saha also referred to West Bengal and said, CPIM and Congress forged alliance in Bengal – people rejected it vehemently, so much so that, neither of the two parties could get a seat in the 2021 West Bengal Assembly Polls.

Without naming anyone, he said several Congress leaders of Tripura quit the Party and joined other parties opposing the alliance with the CPIM.

It is now really weird as to how those leaders who rejoined Congress now would accept the alliance.

The Chief Minister claimed the alliance is not acceptable to many Congress activists who became a victim of Left violence in the past. He slammed the Congress leaders for turning a blind eye to the pain and loss of the party workers owing violence of CPIM and forming an alliance anticipating some mileage in the polls.

When asked about possibility of Tipra Motha also joining the alliance, Dr Manik Saha said he is aware of anything, so far. He commented, BJP is concerned with working for the people and is doing that while other parties are busy in changing parties and forming parties etc.

He took a jibe at the Opposition parties and said Opposition parties are alleging food crisis and housing crisis whereas the Prime Minister is giving free rations to under privileged and houses under government scheme to numerous beneficiaries in the State.
