The relationship between the Congress and CPIM is now exposed before the people – this is the success of the BJP as both the Opposition announced their alliance in Tripura fearing the ruling BJP, said Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma. He also said this is not a strong front as claimed by CPIM’s State Secretary, rather it’s the biggest fraud with the people of the State.

Jishnu Dev Varma while speaking with the media in Agartala on the alliance between Congress and CPIM on Sunday (Jan 15) mocked the move and said that BJP is happy that finally the real face of the Congress and CPIM could be unmasked.

“They had secret ties for quite a long period. This time they had to come out in public. In fact, after 70 years, BJP could unmask the Congress to people. It is a big win for BJP”, Dev Varma commented on the newly formed alliance between arch rivals Congress and CPIM.

Referring to CPIM State Secretary Jitendra Choudhury’s statement that after the alliance Congress and CPIM has become a strong front, Dev Varma commented it is not a strong front, but the biggest fraud with the people of the State.

He also took a jibe at the AICC observer Dr Ajoy Kumar for ‘Man Bhi mil gaya, dil bhi mil gaya’ and said it is a strange statement – how can this happen after so many Congress workers and leaders were killed during the Left regime.

Slamming Dr Kumar, the Deputy Chief Minister said, the Congress leader was alleging BJP burnt down CPIM supporters’ house – how ridiculous that he preferred to mention how many houses of the Congress supporters were burnt down after successive elections since 2003 in Tripura.

He reminded the Congress leaders that several Congress MLAs including Parimal Saha were murdered during the Left Front regime in Tripura.

On a query relating to political violence in Tripura during the BJP rule, Dev Varma said not a single leader of the Opposition parties were killed after BJP came into power in 2018. But the past records of Congress and CPIM are shameful and horrible – Minister Bimal Sinha was killed, an SDM was shot dead in his office room, media persons were killed, BJP’s Shyam Hari Sharma was brutally murdered in Agartala in full public glare – never to forget ignominious instances like raping a girl for seven days at a stretch.

On tie up with Tipra Motha, Dev Varma said nothing is impossible in politics and discussions may be held – however, that does not imply BJP is doing a Tapsya (penance) for the alliance.
