On the eve of joint programme of CPIM and Congress in Agartala on January 21 with the slogan – ‘My Vote, My Right’, Opposition leader in Tripura and CPIM Politburo leader Manik Sarkar appealed to people to come out, unite and cast own’s vote.

If people can cast votes, it would be possible to defeat BJP, he asserted.

Addressing a gathering at Matai under Hrishyamukh constituency in South Tripura District on Friday (Jan 20), Manik Sarkar said, “Come forward to resist the BJP. Time has come to ring the farewell bell of the incumbent government in Tripura”.

He also said, “Every voter should go to respective polling booth and cast his/her vote. This is not the time to sit idle at home. Let us unite and oust the BJP”.

According to the party sources, it was for the first time after 2018 Assembly polls that CPIM supporters led by Opposition leader and Politburo member Manik Sarkar held a rally and public meeting at Matai today.

In his speech, Sarkar criticized the Government alleging that Opposition parties have no right to submit deputation, hold public meetings and even to hire vehicles for political activities whereas BJP supporters can do meetings as when they want.

He listed out several ‘failures’ of the government, in particular regarding unemployment, controlling price hike etc.

Sarkar opined people are disenchanted with the ruling party for its abject failures in implementing promises made before the 2018 Assembly polls.

The CPIM Politburo leader also alleged rule of law has collapsed in Tripura under BJP regime.

Sarkar urged people to resist and be united against the threat and intimidation and exercise their democratic rights to oust BJP.

Meantime, Congress and CPIM supporters will joint hold a rally with ‘My Vote, My Right’, in Agartala and submit a deputation to the Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura on January 21.
