In a shocking incident an angry woman hacked her husband to death after a quarrel. The accused wife surrendered to Police claiming that she had killed her husband.
The shocking incident occurred in the Kashipada Colony area of Amarpur Kurma Village in Tripura on Thursday.
The deceased person, identified as Premguru Jamatia, was 60 years old. The accused wife, Kajal Kanya Jamatia, went to the Birganj police station in Amarpur after the incident and informed Police about the killing and surrendered.
Kajal Kanya claimed that her husband used to torture and beat her in an inebriated condition almost regularly.
On Thursday morning, she was on her way to cut and collect firewoods in the forest when her husband came home and started beating her. Kajal Kanya said at one point her husband was trying to suffocate her. She picked up a machete lying by her side and hit him hard, severing his head from the shoulder.
After the incident, Kajal Kanya left her home in an auto and went straight to Amarpur Birganj police station to surrender herself.
The Second Officer Inspector Bimal Baidya of Birganj Police Station, followed by senior Police Officers, rushed to the scene with a large police force.
Neighbors and people from adjacent areas alsogathered at the spot and were shocked to see the gruesome scene as the deceased was lying in a pool of blood.
The police seized the machete used in the killing and brought it to the police station. The body of the deceased was sent for an autopsy.
Birganj police station registered a case and started investigating the incident. The police confirmed that the accused wife would be taken to court the following day.
