Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has accepted the proposal to be the brand ambassador for Tripura Tourism, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha announced on Tuesday.
The decision came after a meeting between Ganguly and Tripura’s Tourism Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, at Ganguly’s residence in Kolkata today.
The news was received with enthusiasm, as Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed confidence that Ganguly’s involvement would significantly benefit the tourism sector in the state.
In a social media post, Chief Minister Saha expressed his pride in having Ganguly accept the proposal, stating, “It’s a matter of great pride that former captain of the Indian cricket team, Shri Sourav Ganguly Ji, has accepted our proposal to be the Brand Ambassador of Tripura Tourism. Had a telephonic conversation with him today. I am confident that Shri Ganguly Ji’s participation will definitely give an impetus to the state’s tourism sector.”
Ganguly is expected to visit Tripura by the end of June, following his return from an overseas tour, to assume his role as the brand ambassador. The collaboration aims to enhance tourism in Tripura by leveraging Ganguly’s popularity and influence to attract visitors from across the country and around the world.

He expressed his belief that Ganguly, as a widely recognized personality, would be the perfect candidate to fulfil this role. Chowdhury further elaborated on his meeting with Ganguly in Kolkata, stating that they discussed various important matters related to promoting Tripura’s tourism.

The State Government is hoping to utilize State’s natural beauty spots and pilgrimage sites as well as the RAMSA site Rudrasagar etc to attract tourists and generate employment opportunities for the youths.
