Chief Minister of Tripura Dr. Manik Saha has once again called upon the central government to address the needs of students in the state who aspire to pursue higher education.

In a letter addressed to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the Chief Minister has requested an expansion of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) centers in the state.

Demonstrating his commitment to providing quality education to the youth of the state, the Chief Minister has urged for the establishment of additional examination centers.

The letter commends the introduction of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for postgraduate candidates nationwide, as it is expected to enhance transparency in the selection process.

The Chief Minister’s letter highlights the insufficiency of examination centers allocated by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the Common University Entrance Test in Tripura.

Despite approximately 6,000 candidates in the state, only three examination centers have been designated, resulting in many students being compelled to travel outside the state for the exam.

It is worth noting that Tripura possesses an ample number of examination centers with suitable infrastructure for hosting such competitive examinations. Numerous national-level examinations are already conducted in these centers.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the state government has previously approached the Union Ministry of Education regarding this matter, highlighting the candidates’ socio-economic background and geographical location.

Taking into account the prevailing circumstances, the Chief Minister has urged for a sympathetic consideration and an increased allocation of examination centers for Common University Entrance Test candidates in the state.
