In a successful operation, the Army and Assam Rifles troopers have successfully rescued five youth belonging to the Meitei community who were kidnapped by Kuki militants two days ago, according to official sources.
The rescue operation took place in Gwaltabi village, located in the Imphal East district, under the Yaingangpokpi police station.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening when the youth were traveling in an autorickshaw and were abducted by the Kuki militants.
However, in a surprising turn of events, the Kuki militants claimed that they released the five youth as part of their commitment to promoting peace and communal harmony.
An official in Imphal confirmed the successful rescue operation conducted by the Army and Assam Rifles soldiers on Sunday. The timely intervention by the security forces ensured the safe return of the kidnapped youth to their families.
The identities of the rescued youth have not been disclosed for security reasons. The Army and Assam Rifles continue their efforts to maintain peace and security in Manipur, working towards the well-being and safety of all communities in the region. (Edited)
