Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha hailed the 2023-24 State Budget as an inclusive, growth-oriented and forward-looking plan that brings benefits to all segments of society.
Finance Minister of Tripura Pranajit Singha Roy tabled the Budget for the 2023-24 FY in State Legislative Assembly on Friday.

Speaking at a press conference on the State budget, Dr. Saha highlighted the total budget for the fiscal year 2023-24, amounting to Rs 27,654.40 crore, with a capital expenditure allocation of Rs 5,358.70 crore.
In his address, the Chief Minister pointed out significant allocations have been made in key sectors, with Rs 4,934 crore assigned to education, Rs 1,307 crore to roads, Rs 1,725 crore to healthcare, and Rs 973 crore to agriculture in the 2023-24 budget.
The state has experienced notable economic growth, surpassing the national Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) in the previous financial year with an 8.80 percent increase.
For the ongoing financial year, Tripura anticipates an additional 8 percent growth in its economy, while the national economy is projected to grow by 6 percent.
The Chief Minister described the Budget 2023-24 as inclusive and forward-looking, addressing the needs of various sections of society, including women, students and youth.
The budget also aims to uplift marginalized communities such as Janajati, Scheduled Castes (SC), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and people from diverse backgrounds.
Highlighting specific details, Chief Minister Saha disclosed allocations of Rs 59 crore for the Mukhyamantri Jana Arogya Yojana, Rs 10 crore for the Mukhyamatri Integrated Crop Management Program, and Rs 8 crore for the Mukhyamatri Krira Unnoyon Prakolpo. Additionally, Rs 30 crore has been earmarked for the Mukhyamantri Janajati Prokolpo, and Rs 50 crore for skill development initiatives.
The budget introduces over 13 new schemes and establishes the ‘Directorate of Good Government’ to enhance living standards.

He reiterated his confidence that the budget, with its focus on capital expenditure and investment in various sectors, will contribute to the sustained development and prosperity of the state, aligning with Tripura’s vision of ‘Ek Tripura Srestha Tripura.’
Replying to a query, the Chief Minister expressed his dissatisfaction with the behaviour of opposition political parties inside the house, highlighting that their protests were distressing.
