PNB, Sep 08, 2016: Prime Minister NarendraModi has once again put the spotlight on terror and more importantly again on Pakistan for promoting it as its state policy to unify the world community to isolate it.
At the East Asia Summit, PM raised the issue of state sponsored terrorism and in one of the strongest attacks on Pakistan said that there is one country in our neighbourhood which produces and exports terror as he called on the international community to isolate and sanction the instigator. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has advocated strong action against the countries who indulge in promoting terror as an instrument of state policy. Without naming Pakistan, but leaving no doubt as to where his direct broadside was targeted , PM Modi said that a collective effort is required to combat the challenge of terrorism.
Speaking at the 11th East Asia Summit in Lao, PM said that “There’s 1 country in our neighbourhood whose competitive advantage rests solely in producing & exporting terrorism. Terrorism is most serious challenge to open & pluralistic societies. Combating it requires collective effort”. But PM did not stop at just suggesting an effort. He in fact went ahead and while export of terror is reducing space for peace & increasing space for violence, it is also putting at risk peace &prosperity of all.
He said that ‘the nations need to target not only the terrorists, but also their entire supporting ecosystems and the strongest action should be reserved for those state actors who employ terrorism as an instrument of state policy. He said that the time has come to stop this global exporter of terror and to isolate and sanction the instigator. PM also once again laid down India’s stated position on navigation in south china sea in a gathering that had US President Barack Obama and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in attendance. India supports freedom of navigation, over flight and unimpeded commerce, based on principles of international law. Sea lanes of communication passing through South China Sea are main arteries of global merchandise trade.
Clearly Prime Minister seems to have decided to target the menace at its very roots and galvanise the international community to pressurise Pakistan to cease its terror factories and bring to book various terrorists who seem to be having a free run in Pakistan while they have been declared terrorists by international community. And has not hesitated to raise concern at international forum and has succeeded in putting spotlight on terrorism and Pakistan for using it as its state policy.
