In a significant stride toward digital governance, the Tripura cabinet has officially embraced a paperless approach, inaugurating the e-Cabinet system.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha formally inaugurated the advanced digital platform – e-cabinet on Wednesday.

The council of ministers also conducted the first meeting in the new digital system.

This step aims to align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India initiative. The development positions Tripura as the fourth state in India to implement the e-Cabinet facility, following in the footsteps of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Arunachal Pradesh.

The e-Cabinet system, meticulously developed by the State Information and Technology Department in collaboration with the National Informatics Center (NIC), sets the stage for eco-conscious and efficient governance.

“It signifies a paradigm shift in conducting cabinet meetings, eliminating the need for traditional paper documentation and contributing to a sustainable, carbon-neutral approach”, Dr Saha asserted..

During the launch event, the Chief Minister commended the departments that achieved full paperless functionality through the implementation of the e-Office system.

He praised approximately 4,250 individuals from 94 departments who underwent training to handle e-Office, and more than 25,000 e-files have already been generated in the e-Office. This transition toward a paperless future is poised to be a transformative advantage.

Dr Saha reiterated the commitment of the Tripura government to expand e-file, e-office, and other technology-driven services across all departments underscores its dedication to the “Digital India” mission and its commitment to sustainable progress.

The event was graced by the presence of Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Secretary P.K. Chakraborty, and other officials. During the inaugural event, Dr Saha emphasized the collective commitment of all the departments to smart governance in Tripura through digital transformation to achieve ‘Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura’ goal.
