A 24-year-old Bangladeshi woman has found herself in custody in Tripura following a court order.

Local authorities disclosed that she was apprehended for illegally entering India in the company of her Indian paramour. The identity of the detained woman remains undisclosed, while her partner, Nur Jalal, aged 34, managed to evade arrest, so far.

According to sources, Nur Jalal is a quack – a self-proclaimed as a traditional healer, originally hails from Churaibari in North Tripura, which is situated along the Assam-Tripura border.

Locals claimed, several months ago, Jalal ventured into the Moulbibazar district of Bangladesh to practice his traditional healing methods.

During his stay in Bangladesh, Jalal became romantically involved with a married woman who is a mother of two children.

The couple eloped just one week prior to their eventual arrest, embarking on their journey to India through an unauthorized route.

Local residents, noticing Jalal’s frequent crossings into Bangladesh without the appropriate travel documentation, alerted law enforcement agencies. Allegations suggest that Jalal frequently visited Bangladesh to gather various tree roots, herbs, and medicinal plants for his unlicensed traditional healing practice, which he conducted under the guise of ‘traditional healing.’

The arrested woman was presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate of North Tripura on Friday, and she has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody for her illegal entry into India.

The court has also issued an order for the police to apprehend Nur Jalal, who is currently evading capture.
