The present government of Tripura is working on a multi-pronged plan to make Ek Tripura, Shreshtha Tripura.

The government wants to implement this plan by making the people of rural areas self-employed and self-reliant. That is why the government has given utmost importance to agriculture and agriculture related sectors, said Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath.

He was speaking at the inauguration of a workshop titled ‘South Tripura District Level Progressive Farmers Meet Cum Convergence Workshop 2023’ at Sachin Debbarman Auditorium in Belonia under South Tripura on Thursday.

This workshop was organized under the initiative of South Tripura District Administration. 

On the occasion, the Agriculture Minister said that the development of agriculture and agriculture-related sectors and the welfare of farmers are the priority areas of the present government. Efforts have been made to make rural people self-reliant through agriculture, horticulture, fisheries and animal husbandry. 

The government will support those who come forward to become self-employed by exploiting these sectors. The Agriculture Minister said that South Tripura, Gomati and Sepahijala districts are far ahead in the field of agriculture. 

Documentary films of 25 successful farmers involved with agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries and self-help groups of South Tripura district were screened in the programme. 

These successful farmers were felicitated by the district administration on the occasion. Sabhadhipati of South Tripura Zilla Parishad Kakali Das Dutta, Sahakari Sabhadhipati Bibhishan Chandra Das, Chairperson of Belonia Municipal Council Nikhil Chandra Gope, Director of Fisheries Department Santosh Das, Director of Agriculture Department Sharadindu Das and others were present on the occasion.
