A review meeting was convened in the office of State Tourism Minister of Tripura Sushanta Chowdhury at the Secretariat on Monday for an extensive assessment of the newly inaugurated Weekend Tourist center (Weekend Hub) situated in front of the State Museum Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala.

Chowdhury chaired the meeting and key officials deliberated upon multifaceted facets of the Weekend Hub’s operations and people’s reactions.

Central to the discourse were insights from officials encompassing diverse public opinions, both in favor and against the Weekend Tourist Hub, along with a comprehensive analysis of its pros and cons since its inception.

Critical topics addressed ranged from traffic management intricacies to broader associated concerns. Minister Sushanta Chowdhury thoroughly scrutinized these aspects, proffering crucial directives and guidance to the concerned officials for the immediate future.

Participants in the meeting including the Superintendent of Police for West District, Traffic Police Superintendent, and the Sub- Divisional Magistrate of Sadar discussed various aspects relating to the Weekend Hub.

Besides, key stakeholders contributing their perspectives encompassed Additional Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Muhammad Sajjad.P, Managing Director of Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited, Tapan Kumar Das, Director of Information and Culture Department, Bimbisa Bhattacharjee, Additional District Magistrate of West District, Subhash Chandra Saha, Sub-divisional Magistrate of Sadar, Arup Deb, Superintendent of Police of West District, Kiran Kumar K, Superintendent of Traffic Police, Manik Das, Joint Director of Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited, Aniruddh Roy, Executive Architect Uttam Pal, and several other officials vested in the domain.

The deliberations underscored a holistic evaluation of the Weekend Hub’s impact on the community, intricacies in ensuring smooth traffic flow, and pertinent concerns stemming from its operations.  

The Weekend Hub in front of the iconic Ujjayanta Palace was a laudable initiative which remained suspended since the Durga puja festival to avoid excessive crowd rush. Even as the Hub generated curiosity among the people, the Hub created severe traffic snarls during the weekend in the city.
