Chief Minister of Tripura Prof. Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the pivotal role of students in sculpting the future of the nation.

In a compelling address at the Freshers’ Welcome ceremony 2023 held at Rabindra Satabarsiki Bhavan Hall by the 2nd & 3rd year students of Bir Bikram Memorial College, Agartala, on Monday, the Chief Minister highlighted the significance of youth in nation-building.

Tripura-BBM-College-AgartalaIn his speech Dr Saha said, “Students are the cornerstone of our nation’s destiny. The vision of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat or Ek Tripura Shrestha Tripura relies on their shoulders. It’s imperative that educational institutions instill not only academic knowledge but also moral values within our future leaders.”

He drew attention to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on knowledge as a transformative tool and pointed out the new National Education Policy.

Dr. Saha said, “Knowledge is the currency of progress. Prime Minister Modi’s steadfast efforts since 2014 to revolutionize the education sector have led to the formulation and implementation of a new National Education Policy. This policy marks a pivotal step towards holistic education.”

Encouraging educators to actively engage students in comprehending the different aspects of the new National Education Policy, Dr. Saha urged, “Teachers play a crucial role in shaping informed minds. It’s their responsibility to guide students through this transformative policy.”

In a bid to inspire a broader perspective, Dr. Saha urged students to delve beyond textbooks. “Exploring the lives of great luminaries like Rabindranath Tagore, Swami Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo, and others can broaden horizons. Students must cultivate an appetite for knowledge and critical thinking.”

The Chief Minister’s impassioned plea concluded with a call for progressive thinking, asserting, “Only through enlightened minds can we achieve the aspiration of Ek Tripura Shrestha Tripura.”

In today’s Freshers’ Welcome program of the Bir Bikram College, Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and Director of Higher Education NC Sharma also spoke underscoring the collective commitment towards nurturing the nation’s future torchbearers.
