Tripura women’s cricket team maintained their winning form by defeating Bihar by 19 runs in the senior women’s one-day match at Odisha on Saturday. This was Tripura’s second consecutive win and they are now leading the group.

Tripura batted first after losing the toss and faced a tough challenge from the Bihar bowlers. Tripura lost their openers, Mauchaiti Debnath (0) and Indrarani Jamatia (0), without scoring. Hriju Saha (2) and Hena Hotchandinni (5) also departed cheaply, leaving Tripura in trouble.

However, Moutusi Dey and Shiuli Chakraborty showed resilience and steadied the innings. Shiuli played a fluent knock of 49 runs off 58 balls, hitting six boundaries, but fell short of a well-deserved fifty by one run.

Moutusi Dey also contributed 30 runs off 83 balls, with four fours. Reshma Naik (33 off 46 balls, three fours) and Priyanka Acharya (13 off 29 balls, one four) added some valuable runs in the lower order.

Tripura managed to reach 186 runs in their allotted overs.

Bihar’s bowling was led by Apurva Kumari, Rachna Singh, and Pragati Singh, who claimed two wickets each for 22, 29, and 31 runs, respectively.

Chasing 187 runs for victory, Bihar started well with opener Priti scoring 45 runs off 87 balls, with five fours. Yashita Singh also chipped in with 31 runs off 42 balls, with four fours. Pragati Singh (21 off 29 balls, one four, one six) and Vishalakshi (17 off 31 balls, three fours) tried to keep the chase alive, but Bihar lost wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for 167 runs in 48 overs.

Tripura’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Mamon Rabi Das, Reshma Naik, Anupama Das, and Hena Hotchandinni, who all picked up two wickets each for 24, 24, 27, and 31 runs, respectively.

Tripura won the match by 19 runs and secured their place at the top of the group.
