Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Kapil Moreshwar Patil, during his Tripura visit, said that the State has made significant progress in the last decade among the north-eastern states, thanks to the development initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The MoS reviewed the works of the Panchayati Raj department at the state guest house in Agartala on Monday and appreciated the outcomes of the central schemes and the state government’s efforts in various sectors.

He mentioned Tripura’s impressive achievements in implementing Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana and REGA. He also praised the ‘Amar tripura’ portal launched by the state government.

He briefed the media about the scheme- SVAMITVA: Survey of Villages Abadi & Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas. The scheme aims to provide an integrated property validation solution for rural India. He said that the state government has taken steps to implement the scheme.

An official press note stated that the Union Ministry of Rural Development sanctioned 4.12 lakh houses for Tripura and 3.15 lakh houses have been constructed so far. A total of Rs. 4,528 crore has been spent under this scheme in the state, including Rs. 2,781 crore in the last 18 months.

The press note also stated that 4,66,879 women have joined 51,412 Self Help Groups under Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM). In addition, 2,131 Village Organizations and 108 cluster level federations have been formed.

Earlier in the day, the Union Minister participated in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra event, which included an address and interaction with beneficiaries, led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was accompanied by Panchayati Raj state director Prasun Dey and other officials.

The MoS also visited Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha in the evening.
