Tripura defeated Vidarbha by 65 runs in a Women’s Senior National Cricket one day match at the Ravenshaw University ground in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.

Tripura scored 191 runs in their 50 overs, with opener Mouchaiti Debnath scoring 65. Vidarbha could only manage 126 in reply.

Mouchaiti and Indrarani Jamatiya started slowly, but they put on 75 runs for the third wicket. Mouchaiti scored 65 off 101 balls, with seven fours. Ujju Saha scored 40 off 95 balls.

In reply, Vidarbha were soon on the back foot as Tripura’s bowlers bowled tightly. None of the Vidarbha batsmen could get going against Tripura’s tight bowling. Vidarbha were bowled out for 126 in 48.3 overs.

For Tripura, Priyanka Acharya took three wickets for 16 runs, Hena Hotchandini took two for 25, and Reshma Nazek took two for 26.

With four wins from four matches, Tripura are top of the table with 16 points. The team management is pleased with the performance of their players. Coach Narayan Chandra Dey believes that this is a victory for team spirit.

Tripura will play their fifth match against Gujarat on January 12. A win in that match will confirm Tripura’s place in the main round.
