A tenth grade student from the PM Shree School, Amjad Nagar High School in the Hrishyamukh block area in South Tripura District, Jyotsna Aktar, has won the Pradhan Mantri Rastriya Bal Puruskar.
Jyotsna Aktar will receive the award from President Droupadi Murmu on January 22. She Aktar has also been invited to attend the Republic Day parade in Delhi on January 26.
The girl belonging to minority community has been making an outstanding contribution to freeing girls from the curse of child marriage, especially preventing the marriage of underage girls of her schools.
Speaking about Jyotsna’s effective role, Amjad Nagar School’s acting headmaster Subrata Chakraborty said, Jyotsna Aktar is sincerely fighting a battle to prevent the child marriage of countless girls.
“Not only preventing marriages of other girls, Jyotsna Aktar stopped her own child marriage by overcoming family obstacles”, Chakraborty said.
Jyotsna Aktar is playing the role of a leading soldier of the ‘Balika Manch’ formed in schools by the South District Magistrate to deal with child marriage. Her tireless and effective efforts got a recognition and helped her win Pradhan Mantri Bal Puruskar.
After the news of her winning the Puruskar was officially released on Thursday, there was an atmosphere of happiness across the South District. The announcement of Jotishna Aktar’s award has brought a wave of joy among the parents.
Deputy Director of South District Education Department, Subir Majumder said that Jyosna Aktar, a student of Amjad Nagar PM Shree School, is a pride for the students of the district and a source of inspiration to beat the obstacles.
