ProMASS News Bureau: Sep 20, 2016: The State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) of Tripura held its 118th Meeting in Pragna Bhawan. Before the start of the meeting, Miss Dipa Karmakar, Rio Olympian and Mr. Bisweswar Nandi, Coach of Dipa were felicitated by the forum. The meeting was presided over by Bhanu Lal Saha, Finance Minister of Tripura in presence of Pawan Bajaj, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, United Bank of India and Chairman SLBC Tripura. Mr. Y.P. Singh, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Tripura, Dr. G.S.G. Ayyangar, Principal Secretary, other Secretaries, Directors and other Senior officials of various State Government Departments and Banks were also present in the event.
UBI, being the Lead Bank of Tripura is the Convener Bank of SLBC which is a forum of all Banks operating in the State (Public Sector Banks, Private Sector Banks, Cooperative Banks, Tripura Gramin Bank, Insurance Companies etc.) and has been working hand-in-hand with the State Government for the financial and economic well being of the State.
Pawan Bajaj, MD & CEO, UBI during his maiden visit to the State, handed over a cheque of Rs.5.00 Lacs to Dipa Karmakar and another cheque of Rs. 5.00 Lacs to Bisweswar Nandi on behalf of United Bank of India. He also presented souvenirs and Sports items to both Miss Karmakar and Mr. Nandi on behalf of SLBC Tripura. Pawan Bajaj appreciated the efforts of both the athlete and her coach in highlighting the name of Tripura not only in the Country but on a global platform.
Bhanu Lal Saha appreciated the forum’s initiative of inviting both the Sports stars in the event and felicitating and appreciating their works.He also stated that the State Government will always be active in promoting and supporting such special talents who make the people of Tripura proud. Miss Dipa Karmakar and Mr. Bisweswar Nandi thanked SLBC and its Convener Bank UBI for inviting them and conducting the event.
The 118th SLBC Meeting reviewing the progress in various Banking parameters as at the end of June’2016 quarter followed the felicitation event.
