She made a difference for many. She changed the lifestyle of thousands and gave them hope and happiness. A quintessential ‘Sister’.

Kavita Behenji was not only the most loved. most respected and definitely most known Sister in our state, especially Agartala, she was also a beacon of Hope. Calm, quiet and with an unexplained soft glow on her face Kavita Behenji was soft-spoken and full of inspiration and encouragement and guidance for her ‘brothers’. She taught them as to how one should live a meaningful and worthy life, have self-control and uplift oneself to a greater level of consciousness through meditation and realization of power that remains dormant within.

Rajyogini-BK-Kavita-Tripura-Brahma-KumarisKavita Behenji was a symbol of Women Empowerment in a different shade. If I correctly remember she came here in last part of 1990s with one or two of the other Behenjis and almost single handedly built the Brhammakumari institution and facilities here in Agartala. If I am not wrong the first set up was near Dainik Sambad’s city office from where it later went to Banamalipur.

She was I heard a very good administrator also apart from being a successful organizer. It is, indeed, surprising as to how such a composed, soft spoken, soft Sister could achieve so many things. Universally loved and respected Kavita Behenji spent her most meaningful times of life in Tripura.

Kavita Behenji came here, in all likelihood from Assam, with her mother and younger brother Dipak Upadhayay ( now a professor in Tripura University ) when she was, maybe, only around 27-30 years old. She also grew up here and got thousands of admiring respectful brothers like me who, perhaps, never visited and showed interest in the Order that she represented. It was her unique positive and pleasant personality that influenced even an outsider of the Brhammakumari Order. In fact, it was only during Rakhi Bandhan –till some years ago- she would visit us every year with other Brahammakumaris to tie rakhi and present us with their lovely handmade sweets.

It was her positive attitude, dedication and happy-soul demeanor and her readiness to ‘guide’ – that made Kavita Behenji so popular in our state. Only recently she had lost her mother. Today she herself left us. The news was shocking. The demise of the most popular Sister will undoubtedly leave a vacuum in our city. But, we all will remember her whenever we shall see other sisters of her Order.

Om Shanti …
