The Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani will arrive in Agartala on Sep 17 in a 3-day tour and will held review meetings on New Education Policy and its implementation in Tripura as well as in other States of North Eastern Region. Sources stated, Union HRD Ministry sent a set of 33 questions pertaining to different aspects of New Education Policy. The objective is to get the feedback from the ground level and send those to Union Cabinet after due consultation with respective States.
Notably, the Modi regime has adopted a different approach in implementing the New Education Policy. It is often argued that the Gita, The Maha Bharat etc should be included in school curriculum. Opposition Parties have already criticized Centre’s approach relating to Education and termed it as a bid to ‘saffronize’ the Indian Education system. Though tight-lipped about nature of reforms in Education system, incumbent HRD Minister Smriti Irani has divided the country in several zones and NER is one of such zones. Sources claimed, Implementation of the New Education Policy will be in accordance with the zone specific demand of the ground level people.
Informing about the review meeting, the State Education Minister of Tripura Tapan Chakraborty said, out of 33 questions dispatched to the States, 20 questions are relating to Higher Secondary education while remaining 23 focused on School Education. He also stated, the State Govt will held a review meeting on Sep 16 focusing on the feedbacks and prepare a synopsis accordingly which will be discussed in meetings with the Union HRD Minister later.
