Guwahati, July 31: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma came down heavily on reported ‘Miya Land’ demand while revealing information on successful eviction drive against encroachment in the State.

Sarma said, the Assam government has successfully retrieved approximately 182 square kilometers of land that had been under encroachment.

In the wake of the operation, certain groups reportedly associated with the encroachers have now raised a demand for a separate state called ‘Miya Land’.

pic.twitter.com/HAbiJvIIdB

Reacting strongly, the Chief Minister dismissed the demand as absurd and unacceptable. “Such a dream might materialize somewhere, but certainly not within India”.

pic.twitter.com/gPk4eK2rZB

He added, f needed, he would personally help them reach Bangladesh or Afghanistan.

One another note, Sarma said the Assam Government conducted a survey in the hills of Guwahati to identify the encroachers settled there and to remove them from Guwahati.

This survey will not have any impact on the indigenous people of Assam, he asserted.

A social media post in which Sarma wrote about the success of eviction drive and demand for Miya Land got over six thousand views within an hour.
