Bihar poll campaign: ‘Say Proudly We Are Hindus’, says Assam CM
Raghunathpur (Bihar) Nov 4: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party BJP) candidate in Raghunathpur today urged supporters to amplify what he called Bihar’s “voice of transformation” and made a series of forceful remarks on security, identity and illegal land occupation seeking support for the saffron party candidate.
Addressing the rally, Sarma said the initiative to defeat extremist elements must continue after electoral victories.
“However many Osama-like people there are in our country, we must eliminate them one by one after winning elections. Whoever is an Osama-type must be finished,” he said, adding that India “is the land of Rama, of Lord Krishna, of Mother Sita” and “can never belong to an Osama or an Osama-type.”

In another part of his speech, Sarma appealed to Hindus to profess their identity proudly.
“All it takes is for Hindus to roar with pride and say, ‘We are Hindus’. Once we say that with courage, everything becomes possible. And when PM Modi is with us, nothing is impossible,” he told the gathering.
The chief minister also raised the issue of alleged cross-border encroachment in Assam, saying migrants from Bangladesh had taken over large tracts of land.
“These people, who came from across the border, from Bangladesh, have occupied our land in Assam. They have grabbed roughly 1 lakh acres,” Sarma said.
Notably, the illegal immigrant issue has become a major socio-political factor in several Northeastern States including Assam and Tripura.
Sarma added that officials told him much of the encroachment by the illegal immigrants occurred during the Congress tenure and that remedies were not immediately available.

Sarma’s remarks come as he campaigned for the BJP candidate in the Raghunathpur constituency, urging the voters to support the saffron party in upcoming Bihar Assembly Polls.
His speech centred around overall development, cultural identity and national security under leadership of PM Modi. (With inputs from IANS X posts)
