Tech surveillance leads to arrest of cross-state burglars in Guwahati
Guwahati, Nov 28: The Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) has busted a notorious interstate burglary gang that had been terrorizing residents across Assam and neighboring states.
Three key members of the syndicate—two hailing from Rajasthan and one from South Delhi—were arrested, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Shambhavi Mishra informed the media today.
She said, the trio were arrested following a meticulous investigation involving advanced technical surveillance.

According to her, the group travelled between states in rented local vehicles, carried out thefts, concealed their equipment, and escaped quickly.
Police recovered two cutters from the Kamakhya Road area. Acting on technical intelligence, officers tracked the suspects to a hotel in Bhangagarh and apprehended them.
Quoting Mishra in an X post IANS reported, “Extensive investigation and technical analysis led to the arrest of three key gang members, two from Rajasthan and one from South Delhi. The burglars travelled across states using rented local cars, committed crimes, hid their tools, and fled…”
“The hands of the law are long. Keep faith in us.”, Mishra asserted.
Experts attribute this uptick to economic migration and the anonymity afforded by apps for renting vehicles, urging citizens to install smart locks and report suspicious rentals.
Residents in affected areas expressed relief on social platforms, with one X user posting, “Finally, some good news from Pan Bazar—hats off to DCP Mishra!”
