Abhinaba Banik Selected as State Youth Icon Student-Scientist to Represent Tripura at National Youth Festival 2025

Abhinaba Banik, a class 10 student of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Vivek Nagar, has been nominated as the State Youth Icon Student-Scientist by the Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Tripura. 

He will represent Tripura at the prestigious National Youth Festival 2025, organized by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under the patronage of the Prime Minister of India. 

The festival, marking the 163rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, will take place at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on January 11-12.

Recognition of Excellence

Abhinaba Banik was selected for his exceptional achievements in the field of science and innovation.

Abhinaba Banik Selected to Represent Tripura at National Youth Festival 2025His remarkable research on the effects of sanitizers on the human body during COVID-19, conducted under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Tapan Majumdar of Agartala Government Medical College, earned him accolades at the National Children’s Science Congress and Indian Science Congress. 

Besides, his stellar performance as a participant and team leader at the Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) Yuvika 2024 program and National Remote Sensing Center, Hyderabad, further established him as a standout student-scientist.

Abhinaba’s contributions extend beyond science. His artwork, including a painting selected for display at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum, and his sculptures showcased at Sarada Devi Chitrashala of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, highlight his diverse talents. 

He was also honored with the India International Sarabhai Student Scientist Award under ISRO’s VIPNET program.

A Milestone in Youth Leadership

This year’s National Youth Festival aims to inspire the nation’s youth in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a "Vikshit Bharat" (Developed India) by 2047.

Abhinaba will join nine other youth icons from Tripura in presenting innovative ideas for nation-building during the National Youth Dialogue. 

This segment of the festival includes interactions with the Prime Minister, Union Ministers, and other dignitaries, providing a platform to discuss leadership and development strategies for a new India.

Acknowledgment and Blessings

The announcement of Abhinaba’s selection was conveyed in an official letter by Satyabrata Nath, Director of the Tripura Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, to the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. 

Secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Mission Vivek Nagar, Swami Shubhakarananda Maharaj and the Vice Principal, Swami Budhirupananda Maharaj, congratulated Abhinaba and extended their blessings for his journey to New Delhi.

Teachers and peers at Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya have also celebrated his achievements.

Road to National Representation

Abhinaba’s selection comes after a series of recognitions, including his felicitation by the Tripura Government during the National Youth Day celebrations in 2024, in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Prof. Manik Saha and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy.

His participation in the India International Science Festival in Goa, as a resource person in the Ecofest section organized by NICPOR and CSIR, further cemented his reputation as a bright young scientist.
