All India Police Football Championship Day 2: Tripura women's team tastes defeat against Tamil Nadu

In the 73rd B.N. Mallick Memorial Police Football Championship, Tripura women’s team started its campaign with a defeat against Tamil Nadu women’s team on Tuesday. After Tripura men’s team scripted victory on Monday, anticipation soared high for today’s Tripura versus Tamil Nadu match in the women’s category at the Umakanta stadium on Tuesday.

Even as Bulti Chowdhury and her team put up a brave fight, Tamil Nadu women’s team trounced the State team by 6-0. Players of the State team created several opportunities but failed to put the ball into net. Coach Sandip Das, however, remained optimistic and said the players made good efforts which would help the team to do better in the upcoming matches.     

Out of the total 11 scheduled matches across five grounds in the state on Tuesday, nine matches have been completed till the report was filed.

Apart from Tripura-Tamil Nadu match in the women’s category, a match between SSB and Odisha in the women’s category was played today at the Umakanta Stadium. In that match, SSB defeated Odisha 2-1.

73rd-B.N.-Mallick-Memorial-Police-Football-ChampionshipTwo matches were held today at the S.N. Colony Stadium in Jirania. In these matches, in the men’s category, Jammu & Kashmir defeated Gujarat 3-1, and CRPF defeated RPF 4-0.

Two matches were also held today at Tulabagan Stadium in Mohanpur. In these, in the men’s category, Maharashtra defeated Bihar 9-0, and Sikkim defeated West Bengal 1-0.

Two matches took place today in Jampuijala as well. Among these, in the men’s category, CISF defeated Assam 2-0, and Delhi defeated Lakshadweep 5-2.

In the men’s category match held at Chandrapur Stadium in Udaipur, Tamil Nadu defeated Arunachal Pradesh 4-0.

Meanwhile, the Tripura men’s team will take to the field on Wednesday aiming for their second victory. Their opponent is Jharkhand. After securing a 3-0 win against Telangana in the first match on Monday, the morale of Pritam Hossain and his team has significantly boosted.

Expectations for a good show are high among the football enthusiasts of the state. The State men’s team is quite optimistic about defeating Jharkhand on Wednesday. The match will begin at 6:30 pm on Wednesday at Umakanta Mini Stadium.
