Tripura men’s team continued their winning run on home turf in the 73rd BN Mallick Memorial Police Football Championship. In a match held under floodlights on Wednesday at the Umakanta Stadium, the Tripura men’s team defeated Jharkhand by 4-1.
Pritam Hossain and other players of the State team dominated from the start, excelling in ball possession and dictating play. Tripura team led 1-0 at halftime. The State team continued their aggression in the second half and ramped up their attack to widen the gap. Tripura men’s team scored three more goals in the second half while Jharkhand scored one goal. Finally, the match ended with a convincing 4-1 victory for Tripura Police.
With two consecutive wins – the State men’s team won against Telangana on Day 1 of the tournament - Tripura team is firmly on track for the quarterfinals. Matenjoy Reang shone with two goals, while Pritam Hossain and Badal Debbarma also found the net for Tripura. Jharkhand’s lone goal came from Mangal Orang.
On Day 3 of the 73rd BN Mallick Memorial Police Football Championship, out of the 14 matches scheduled on Wednesday, results of 13 matches (Including Tripura vs Jharkhand match) were available till the report was filed.
At Umakanta Stadium, among the matches held today, in the women's division, Tamil Nadu defeated Maharashtra 13-0, CRPF beat Jharkhand 17-0, and Assam Rifles triumphed over Manipur 7-0. Besides, in the men's division at Umakanta Stadium, Punjab defeated Meghalaya 1-0. At Chandrapur Stadium in Udaipur, in the men's division, the match between BSF and Goa ended in a 1-1 draw, while Nagaland defeated Karnataka 5-0.
In Jampui Jala, two matches in the men's division were held today. Rajasthan defeated Himachal Pradesh 5-0, and ITBP beat Puducherry 6-0. At SN Colony Stadium in Jirania, three matches in the men's division took place today. In these matches, SSB defeated Jammu & Kashmir 2-0, Kerala beat Gujarat 5-0, and CRPF won against Sikkim 3-0. At Tulabagan Stadium in Mohanpur, two matches in the men's division were held today. Among those, Manipur defeated Bihar 13-1, and Assam Rifles beat Maharashtra 3-0.
