The 73rd B.N. Mallick Memorial All India Police Football Championship, a prestigious national-level tournament, commenced on Monday. For the first time in the state’s football history, Tripura Police is hosting a national-level Police football event of this magnitude.
After the formal inauguration at the Umakanta Mini Stadium, Police team from Mizoram faced off Uttar Pradesh in the men’s category Match between Mizoram (Men) and Uttar Pradesh (Men) ended into draw as both the teams scored 1 goal each which was played at Umakanta Stadium. In another match at the same stadium, Tripura (Men) defeated Telangana (men) by 3-0 goals. At Mohanpur Tulabagan stadium, Assam Rifles won against Odisha by 3-1 goal margin.
In the match between Kerala (Men) and Madhya Pradesh (Men) which was held at S.N Colony Stadium, Kerala (Men) won by a margin of 8-0 goals.
In the women’s category, Assam Rifles defeated Maharastra by a massive 19-0 margin today.
Notably, the tournament will be held across multiple venues in the State. Apart from Agartala, matches will be played at stadiums in Jirania, Mohanpur, Jampuijala, and Udaipur. Featuring separate men’s and women’s categories, this All-India spectacle brings together police teams from across the nation.
Making its debut in Tripura, this mega event boasts an impressive lineup: 36 teams in the men’s category and 9 in the women’s category, representing states, union territories, and central police units.
Nearly 50 footballers of national and international caliber including two from Tripura will display their talents and skills in the tournament. A total of 11 matches including Tripura (Women) vs Tamilnadu (Women) will be played across the venues on Tuesday.
Four matches – two each in Women’s and Men’s categories - will be played at the Umakanta Stadium tomorrow. At 7.30am, Tripura women’s team will face off Tamilnadu at the Umakanta Stadium.
Besides, Arunachal Pradesh (Men) will play against Tamilnadu (men) at Chandrapur stadium tomorrow at 9am. Jampuijala will host two matches – CISF (men) vs Assam (men) at 7.30 am and Lakshadweep (men) will come up against Delhi (men) at 2.30pm. In two matches at the SN Colony Stadium, Gujarat (men) will play against J&K (men) at 8am while CRPF (Men) will take on RPF (men) at 2.30pm.
Maharastra (Men) team and Bihar (Men) will clash at 8am in Tulabagan stadium tomorrow. In another match at the same stadium at 2.30 pm, Sikkim (Men) will play against West Bengal (men) team.
