Supporters of Tipra Motha held rallies at different places protesting against the attack on its chairman Pradyot Kishore Debbarma by a group of TPF activists at Khumulwng during the last two days.
A rally was held at Ampinagar on Saturday protesting against the attack on its chairman Pradyot Kishore Debbarma by a group of TPF activists at Khumulwng on December 16 last.
Pradyot Kishore, also a royal scion, faced angry supporters of the TPF at Khumulwng on December 16 during a public rally organized by TPF. Soon, a skirmish broke out between the supporters of the Motha and TPF. During the chaos, security personnel managed to take Pradyot Kishore to safer place. Tension gripped the area and security arrangements were tightened following the incident.
Condemning the incident, Tipra Motha supporters raised slogans against TPF chief Patal Kanya and demanded an apology for the attack. Venting anger at the TPF, supporters of Tipra Motha alleged TPF is destroying peace, harmony and unity among the indigenous people.
Among the distinguished participants, there were Deb Sadhan Jamatia, Ampi sub zonal chairman, Sukendu Kalai, ZDC member, Subhash Debbarma and many others who remained present in the protest rally.
Denouncing the attack on Debbarma, Tipra Motha supporters held a rally at Ekrai Bazar area today. Led by a member of the Central Committee of the Tipra Motha, Binoy Debbarma, the rally roamed around the market and voiced dissent against the TPF chief and its supporters.
Meanwhile, a torch rally was organized by the Tipra Motha supporters at Khamtingbari area in Baramoura on Friday evening. The Motha supporters also gave a call to boycott Patal Kanya and her party TPF.
