BSF trooper of Tripura martyred in Kashmir killing intruding terrorist

In a major gun battle to neutralize terrorist near LoC at Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir, a BSF trooper, Sudip Sarkar made supreme sacrifice. He hailed from Dhaleswar in Agartala. Sudip Sarkar along with Indian army jawans were engaged in a gun battle with the terrorists who were trying to infiltrate from across the border near LoC at Machil sector of Kupwara.

As per IANS reports, in the gun battle, three Indian army soldiers and Sarkar were killed – however, they foiled the infiltration bid as three militants were also killed.

It is learnt that during Saturday night the BSF patrol in which Sudip was also a member noticed suspicious movement near the Anti-Infiltration Obstacle System (AIOS) of the LoC Fence, about 3.5 km from the LoC in the general area of Machil sector.

According to BSF, in the wee hours of November 08, terrorists attempted to infiltrate through Machil sector. BSF being the first line of defence put up a fight to prevent them. One of the terrorists was shot dead by the BSF jawans while others succeeded to breach the borders. Constable Sudip Sarkar tried to thwart them and sustained grievous injuries in face of their attacks. He succumbed to his injuries later.

Soon this news reached Tripura and a sense of mourning prevailed. Local people extended condolences to the bereaved family.
