Chandra Memorial Football in Tripura: Rohit Singh's brace seals Jewels' upset win

Jewels Association created a major upset in the league by defeating the formidable Nine Bullets Club. With their first win of the tournament on Wednesday, Jewels climbed up to the ninth position in the points table, overtaking Friends Union. On the other hand, Nine Bullets, having played 7 matches, have 13 points. This match was part of the 'Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers' First Division League Football tournament organized by the State Football Association.

Rohit Singh scored a brace for the winning team. The match's best footballer was awarded to the winning team's goalkeeper, T. Ehemba Meitei.

Nine Bullets were largely thwarted by Meitei's brilliant goalkeeping. He played a crucial role in securing the first win for his team by saving three certain goals.

The winning team was leading 2-0 at the end of the first half. Rohit Singh scored two goals in the 10th and 31st minutes of the first half. In the second half, Nine Bullets tried desperately to reduce the deficit. However, their attacks were repeatedly thwarted by Jewels' goalkeeper Meitei. In the 34th minute of the second half, Lalchhan Hmar headed in a cross from Shantajoy Reang to make it 1-2.

Following this, both teams played with a lot of passion. In the 41st minute, a scuffle between the players led to the referee, Tapash Debnath, showing red cards to Mawama of Nine Bullets and Binay Singh of Jewels. Ultimately, Jewels secured a valuable 3 points with this victory, providing temporary relief from the relegation battle.
