Civic Polls in Tripura: Reactions of BJP, CPM, TMC

People resisted conspiracies: BJP

The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has congratulated the voters for exercising their franchise in the polls to urban bodies on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference, BJP state spokesman Nabendu Bhattacharjee said the voters not only exercised their democratic rights by casting votes but also resisted all conspiracies.

“The opposition parties raised allegations that their polling agents were stopped from entering into the booths or moved out of the booths, but the fact remained that they didn’t even collect forms for their polling agents in maximum seats, he said.

Bhattacharjee said that a BJP karyakarta was attacked under ward no- 36.

CPM likely to knock SC

The Left front of Tripura alleged large scale booth capturing and rigging by the saffron brigades turned the polls a farce.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday evening at the party headquarter, the CPI-M state secretary and central committee member Jitendra Choudhury said that the party will also approach the Supreme Court again with a contempt plea against the state government.

TMC calls it ‘mockery’

Trinamool Congress (TMC) state convenor Subal Bhowmik alleged that the state had witnessed a mockery in the name of elections to civic bodies on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference, he said that a good number of voters as well as the TMC candidates in some cases were not allowed to cast their votes. He also questioned the role of the security personnel.

Bhowmik, however, congratulated the voters who exercised their democratic rights.

Cong demands re-poll

The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee on Thursday alleged massive violence centering the municipal council polls and stated that the entire polling of November 25 was turned into a farce and demanded re-poll in all the civic bodies across the State.

Addressing a press congruence from the congress bhawan on Thursday evening, PCC spokesperson Prashant Sen Chowdhury alleged, “A large scale of booth capturing was reported from different wards of the municipal bodies, where the BJP goons were found to have threatened voters and restricted them from entering into the polling booths for vote.”
