Govt working to expand scope of cultural exercises: CM

A bunch of plans are being implemented to expand the scope of cultural exercises in the state, enunciated Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb after inaugurating North Tripura District-Level Book Fair- 2022 on Saturday.

The theme of the Book Fair is “My Tripura, My Pride”. The 5-day Book Fair is being jointly organized by the North Tripura district administration, Dharmanagar Municipal Council and Information & Cultural Affairs department at Dharmanagar BBI ground.

Prior to that, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of Uptakhali Primary Health Centre under Dharmanagar sub-division. There he interacted with the locals. Then he inaugurated the new Rajnagar Primary Health Centre building under Dharmanagar sub-division. After inaugurating, the Chief Minister visited different sections of the PHC and got acquainted with different services that are to be provided in the PHC. Total expenditure in the construction of 10-bedded Rajnagar PHC and 10 staff quarters is 3 crore 85 lakh rupees. The construction of 10-bedded Uptakhali PHC has been estimated to be 6 crore 45 lakh rupees.

The Chief Minister in the Book Fair said, Indian culture is our identity. The government is working on a priority basis to expand the opportunities for cultural exercise in the state. A proposal has been sent to the concerned department for approval of a project worth 100 crore rupees for setting up a cultural hub centrally in Agartala. Plans are there to set up a Centre in Tripura with the help of Satyajit Roy Film Institute. The state government has planned to provide 2,360 acres of land under Jiraniasubdivision for establishing the National School of Drama, Tripura Centre. Besides that, an initiative has been taken to arrange a place for the Tripura Centre of Lalit Kala Akademi. Initiatives have been taken to set up more regional centers for autonomous organizations under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. In order to further develop and enrich the culture of the state, plans have been adopted to expand the opportunities for cultural exchange with different regions.

The Chief Minister also said, a bunch of plans are successfully being implemented including advancement in health infrastructure and services in the state. Its ultimate example is open-heart surgery successfully done for the first time in the state. First Knee Transplant has been done for the first time in Tripura as all types of treatment are now available in the state.The government has also set a target of providing kidney transplants services in the state. There used to be a time when the people of the state had to spend a lot of money to get advanced treatment outside of Tripura. But the present government is working towards the goal of all kinds of medical facilities available in the state. As a result, on one hand, all the medical facilities will be available in Tripura and on the other hand, people’s money will be spent in Tripura.

Deputy Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly Biswabandhu Sen and North Tripura District Magistrate & Collector Nagesh Kumar B. also delivered their speech in the programme. While laying the foundation stone of Uptakhali Primary Health Centre and inaugurating the new Rajnagar Primary Health Centre building, others present along with the Chief Minister were Sabhadhipati of North Tripura Zila Parishad Bhabatosh Das, Director of Family Welfare & Preventive Medicines department Dr. Radha Debbarma. In the Book Fair inauguration programme, others present were Sabhadhipati of North Tripura Zila Parishad Bhabatosh Das and Chairman of Dharmanagar Municipal Council Pradyot Dey Sarkar.
