Guwahati bound bus meets accident, Tripura youth dead, several others injured

A bus accident in Dima Hasao has left one Tripura youth dead and several others seriously injured. The incident occurred after a night bus traveling from Tripura lost control and veered off the highway.

The deceased passenger has been identified as Dipraj Debbarma. At least 30 passengers were injured in the accident, six of whom are in critical condition.

Dipraj Debbarma, who lost his life in the accident, hailed from Dhalai district in Tripura. The bus was also carrying a number of Tripura State Cooperative Bank exam aspirants.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha condoled the death and wished speedy recovery to persons who sustained injuries. 

In a social media post, the Tripura Chief Minister wrote, "A tragic bus accident in Assam's Dima Hasao district has claimed the life of a passenger from the state and injured several others. I am deeply saddened by this incident.

I express my deepest condolences to the family of the deceased passenger and wish a speedy recovery to the injured".

The bus, bearing registration number AS 01 MC 0243, was en route from Tripura to Guwahati when the unfortunate incident took place.

The seriously injured passengers were rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for immediate medical attention. According to sources, at least six passengers are in critical condition. 

In an X post, Union MoS Pratima Bhoumik also expressed grief at the tragic incident and extended her condolences to the bereaved family members of the deceased Dipraj Debbarma. 

She also wrote, "I spoke with CEM @gorlosadebolal of Dima Hasao about the treatment of the injured and requested him to provide prompt medical attention to the injured. He assured me that he is taking the matter seriously. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of all".
