Over Rs 12,000 Crore Earmarked for Six National Highways covering 684 km in Tripura: MoS Ajay Tamta

Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Ajay Tamta, announced that more than Rs 12,000 crore will be allocated for the development of six national highways in Tripura, covering a total of 684 kilometers. He noted that 14 projects on these highways have already been completed, with an investment of Rs 4,271 crore, and 15 additional projects are currently underway.

During his three-day visit to Tripura, Tamta emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas' is being realized in the state through multiple infrastructure initiatives. A logistics park, similar to the one in Jogighopa, Assam, will be established in Agartala to enhance connectivity by linking air, road, water, and rail routes. Plans are also in place to construct a ring road around Agartala to divert traffic away from the city, as well as a bypass from Agartala's Amtali to Lembuchhara.

Earlier, the minister visited Khowai district, where he held a review meeting at the district office, attended by District Magistrate Chandni Chandran, Additional District Magistrate Abhijit Chakraborty, and senior officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the district council. The meeting focused on the progress of various road projects in the region.

Tamta also mentioned that detailed discussions were held regarding critical government initiatives. He said the meeting reviewed the progress of targets set for blocks under the 'Vibrant India' initiative, and instructions were given to address any shortcomings to accelerate progress in lagging areas.

Besides, the MoS inaugurated the Padmabil Block, Panchayat Resource Center, and BAC Conference Hall in Khowai. He also engaged with women from self-help groups in the Padmabil block area, highlighting the government’s commitment to grassroots development. He also inspected the 208B National Highway at Upendra nagar under Padmabil Block in Khowai.
