Road rage : One dead, six injured

A 50-year old woman died and at least six persons were injured in two separate road accidents in Tripura today.

In a bike accident, pillion rider Fursena Begum of Putia Boxanagar area died at Gopinagar under Bishalgarh. Local sources said, she along with her two-year-old granddaughter was travelling in a bike to Santirbazar. Her son-in-law – Kamal Hussain - was driving the bike. As the bike reached Gopinagar area, Fursena asked her son-in-law to stop the bike. However, before Kamal could stop it, Fursena fell from the bike. Hospital sources said, Fursena received severe injuries on the backside of her skull and collapsed. However, the baby was saved.       

In another road mishap, at least six persons were injured and two of them sustained serious injuries. The accident occurred at Chakmaghat area today. Sources said, a groom’s party was coming to Agartala from Kumarghat in a private. The car was reportedly running at a high speed. As the car reached near the Vishakarma Temple at Chakmaghat, the driver lost control and the car fell into around 25-ft deep cleft.

In the accident, five male travellers including the driver and one woman were injured. Local sources said, driver Ashish Das and another passenger were critically injured and shifted to GB Hospital while rest of the injured persons are undergoing treatment at Teliamura Hospital.
