Satyajit Roy Film and Television Institute in Tripura to kick start from October 31

Sushanta-Satyajit-Roy-Film-InstituteThe much-awaited Satyajit Roy Film and Television Institute is about to kick start in the state at Nazrul Kalakhetra from October 31.

 

Academics will be commencing from November 7. Primarily, the institution will run four courses. The advertisement for admissions will be published on September 20, Information & Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury in a press meeting at the Secretariat told the media on Friday.

 

The ICA Minister said the last date of submitting the application form for admission in Satyajit Roy Film and Television Institute is October 20. The application forms will be scrutinized from October 21 to 30 next.

 

The four courses which would be run primarily are courses on Film Appreciation, Production Management on Cinema and Television for four weeks and courses on Screen Acting for eight weeks, Anchoring and News Reading for media.

 

Convocation ceremony and certificates will be given at the end of the course to the students in February 15, 2023. All these courses will be provided at very minimum fees. This decision was taken in a meeting held among the institute representatives and the state government at the main office of the Institute on September 5 in Kolkata.

 

enewstime-Sushanta-Satyajit-Roy-Film-InstituteThe ICA Minister also informed that the Information & Cultural Affairs and Satyajit Roy Film and Television Institute will jointly supervise the film institute in the state. The responsibility to build the infrastructure for the institute at Nazrul Kalakshetra has been given to PWD and for beautification to Agartala Municipal Corporation, Horticulture & Soil Conservation department. Rs 5 crore 76 lakh will be spent yearly on the management of the institute.

 

The ICA Minister said, no such initiative to set up an institute was taken during the reign of the previous government. He said, based on the interests, diploma and degree courses will be commenced later for all these courses.

 

There are plenty of those who are interested in film in our neighboring states such as Manipur, Assam, West Bengal. The government has decided to set up the institute in the state with positivity. He hoped that there will be plenty of job opportunities based in this field.

 

Tripura’s culture and tourism will be highlighted furthermore with the development of films in the state. Secretary of ICA department Pradip Kumar Chakraborty and Director In-charge Santosh Das were present during the press meet.
