Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Tournament: Tripura to play against Tamil Nadu on November 23

State’s senior cricket team is all set to begin its campaign in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 cricket tournament on Saturday, taking on the formidable Tamil Nadu in their opening match. Tripura’s players draw confidence from their strong performances against top teams like Mumbai and Baroda in the Ranji Trophy, which has bolstered their self-belief.

The team believes that with a solid performance, defeating Tamil Nadu is well within reach.

For Tripura to succeed, their batting lineup will need to deliver. In the Ranji Trophy, players like Bikram Kumar Das, Jiwanjyot Singh, Shridam Pal, Tejashwi Jaiswal, and skipper Mandeep Singh showcased good form, and the team hopes they can carry that momentum into Saturday’s game. Both teams are likely to aim for a winning toss and opt to bat first, aiming to put up a substantial score on what is expected to be a batting-friendly wicket.

Bikram Kumar Das and Jiwanjyot Singh are set to open the innings for Tripura, followed by Shridam Pal, Tejashwi Jaiswal, captain Mandeep Singh, and Rajat Dey. The pace attack will be spearheaded by Mani Shankar Mura Singh and Abhijit Dey, while Shankar Pal and Parvez Sultan will handle spin duties. Sharath will don the gloves as the wicketkeeper.

With a balanced squad and a clear game plan, Tripura is optimistic about starting the tournament on a positive note. The team management believes that if the players perform to their potential, they can spring a surprise against Tamil Nadu.
