Tripura: 254 incidents registered since announcement of polls, 235 arrested, CM informs Assembly

Tripura registered 254 incidents since the assembly polls were announced and 235 persons were arrested in connection with such incidents, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha informed the House on Tuesday.

 

In support of a motion of thanks moved on Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya’s speech in the assembly on the first day-- March 24, Dr. Saha said that the present law and order situation in the state was normal now.

 

He said, the assembly polls passed off peacefully and created a history; 254 complaints were registered in the state since the assembly polls were declared while 235 persons were arrested and 995 notices were served.

 

Police took prompt action in 1230 incidents in terms of maintaining law and order. Besides, 14,240 persons were arrested as preventive measures, he told the House on Tuesday, the last day of the three-day Session.

 

The motion of thanks was unanimously accepted in the House followed by the discussions.

 

The Chief Minister also said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government and the state government are sincerely working for the overall development of Janajati section.

 

“The state government has already taken various steps for the welfare of Janajati people with a special focus on development of ADC areas,” the Chief Minister said.

 

Giving more details, he said, in the year 2021-22 the Finance department directly allocated Rs. 537.25 crore for ADC development while an amount of Rs. 4401.04 crore was spent through 49 departments. Besides, in the year 2022-23, the amount of funds allocated for ADC development was around Rs. 543 crore and Rs. 4404 crore was spent through 49 departments.
