Agartala witnessed a vibrant conclusion to the Asmita City League, a premier women's sports competition, marked by excitement and high-spirited participation.
Organized by the Khelo India State Centre of Excellence, the event featured competitions in swimming and judo, drawing young athletes from across the region.
Thrilling Swimming Contests at Raima Swimming Pool
The swimming events were divided into two age categories - Under-14 and Under-19 covering 19 events at the Raima Swimming Pool.
Among the standout performers were Beauty Sutradhar, Shakira Akhtar, Paramita Tripura, Geeta Debnath, Nisha Sinha, Paramita Molsom, Riya Debnath, Purnima Das, SAI’s Tania Deb, Akanksha Sharma, Dwibija Laskar, Priyangshi Lodh, Shrata Roy (Umakanta Swimming Pool), Adrita Dutta, Shrimoyee Pal, Sayantika Dey (Jirania), Joysree Das, and Purnima Das (Old Agartala).
They secured podium finishes, earning certificates and awards for their remarkable performances.
Judo Stars Shine at Badharghat Sports Complex
The judo competition, held at the Judo Hall of Badharghat Sports Complex, featured three age categories — Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 —across 24 weight-based divisions.
In the Under-17 category, Jhuma Akhtar, Rangmari Jamatia, Mrigakshi Saha, Dheering Chakma, and Krayanfru Mog emerged as top performers. Meanwhile, the Under-14 division saw Shruti Debnath, Tapashree Sarkar, Payel Mog, Priyanka Das, Lakshmi Chakma, Payel Tripura, Ukra Joy Mog, Polo Mog, Mrachang Srishtina Urang, Umadi Mog, Shreya Majumdar, Shrabanti Debnath, Ritwika Sarkar, and Urvashi Debnath clinch top-three finishes, earning recognition and awards for their skills and determination.
Grand Inauguration and Notable Guests
The tournament was inaugurated by Tinku Roy, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, in a special ceremony. Distinguished guests included department officials Satyabrata Nath, Joint Secretary Paim Mog, Prabal Kanti Deb, Biplab Kumar Dutta, Padma Shri Dipa Karmakar, Tripura School’s Bharati Dutta, SAI STC In-Charge Arindam Gogoi, among others.
As the competition concluded, coaches, dignitaries, and sports officials presented awards to the winners, celebrating their hard work and achievements.
