Tripura CM Dr Manik Saha inaugurates Heritage Fest by Yuva Vikash Kendra in Agartala
Keeping life in Taal and Sur is important. Problems occur when life goes out of rhythm. Doing every work with rhythm and melody brings happiness in life, said Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha after inaugurating a Heritage Festival organized by Yuva Vikash Kendra at Umakanta Academy ground in Agartala on Sunday (November 20).

The programme, which will conclude on November 27 next, organized as part of the 50 years of statehood, started with a colourful procession in Agartala. Youths from across the country in their traditional attire attended the procession.
In the Heritage Festival organized by Yuva Vikash Kendra, around 380 participants from 18 states have participated.
In his inaugural speech, the Tripura Chief Minister said, Heritage Festival gives an opportunity to people to know about ancient history of different States, culture, tradition and languages.
“Earlier, people of the country had very little idea about Tripura. However, after eight Northeastern States were coined as ‘Ashtalaxmi’, people across the country started to know about our State”, Dr Manik Saha said.
He continued as said, even as Tripura is a small State, it has a rich cultural heritage. Along with Bengalis and Manipuris, 19 Janajati communities are living in the State with their colourful tradition art and cultural tradition.
Dr Saha said, country youths comprise of 65 per cent of total population. The youths have definite roles in developing the nation and society. He, however, lamented a section is trying to divert the youth to wrongful path.
In this connection, Tripura Chief Minister referred to the drug menace in the State and reiterated Government’s sincere efforts to end the menace. Dr Saha exuded confidence that programmes like Heritage Festival would be effective in keeping away the youths from social evils.
Mayor of the Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder highlighted the ‘diversity in unity’ of the country and commented Indian civilization is surviving on rich Indian culture. He also pointed out, The Heritage Festival would help in developing the Tourism sector of the State as well as it would help the commercial sector to flourish.
On behalf of the Yuva Vikas Kendra, Debashish Majumder delivered the welcome address. In the inaugural programme, president of Tripura Cricket Association, Tapan Lodh was also present.
