Tripura Govt soon to launch Kidney transplant procedures at GB Pant Hospital: CM Dr Saha

Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha announced on Thursday that the state will soon commence kidney transplant procedures at the GB Pant Hospital and informed that the government is considering the establishment of an iron removal plant for water within the hospital premises.

Dr. Saha said this after visiting GB Pant and Agartala Government Medical College today.

Kidney-transplant-GBP Hospital-Tripura"I visited GB Pant and Agartala Government Medical College to inspect the super-speciality hospital. It's reassuring to see such progress. Offices are in the process of being shifted. We plan to have 7 super-speciality outpatient departments and wards here. We are working to complete this as soon as possible. During my visit, I inspected neurosurgery and nephrology departments and reviewed some reports. I also visited the pharmacy and discussed issues related to medication and quality with doctors and staff. We had detailed discussions on these matters, including how to maintain medical equipment," said Dr. Saha.

He expressed optimism that all pending works would be completed after consultations with the Public Works Department (PWD), the electrical department, and other relevant authorities.

"We are aware of the iron content in the water at GB Pant, so we are exploring the possibility of installing an iron removal plant. We aim to establish this as a center of excellence, leveraging the available infrastructure," added Dr. Saha.

He further disclosed that the government would soon initiate kidney transplant facilities at GB Pant Hospital.

"A team of doctors and staff has been sent to Manipur for training, and they have returned. I have also discussed this with the principal of AGMC. We are preparing to open these facilities soon," he concluded.
